A day for indie authors to sell their books

Mission

To celebrate, elevate, and build career infrastructure for New Mexico writers, authors, poets, and small press publishers.

Santa Fe 2027

More to come!

Sage & Ink Writers Festival

Vision: A New Mexico where statewide literary and writing talent has the same visibility, support, and career pathways as authors and writers from elsewhere, anchored by a permanent festival and, eventually, a year-round literary hub.

The Opportunity for Writers

New Mexico has a vibrant literary community, but it doesn’t have a festival created to help writers and authors grow and thrive.

The Santa Fe International Literary Festival does something important: it brings world-renowned authors to New Mexico.

Sage & Ink Writers Festival asks a different question: what about writers already here?

New Mexico’s indie authors, writers, screenwriters, poets, and small press publishers have solid roots in this state — and nowhere that exists specifically to celebrate and serve them.

Sage & Ink fills that gap.

Inaugural Event: The Block, Rio Rancho

A free, public marketplace day on November 7th, 2026, from 11am – 4pm at The Block in Rio Rancho, co-hosted with indie bookstore Enchanted Books.

  • Authors, publishers, and book groups table and selling directly to readers
  • One to two panel discussions
  • Set against The Block’s shipping-container aesthetic, alongside its food vendors

This is the proof of concept: building community, bringing in our first cohort of New Mexico writers and publishers, and creating a track record to bring to funders heading into 2027.

Phase 2: Santa Fe – Spring/Fall 2027 — Where Craft Meets Career

A two-day festival to help writers and authors further their career and to celebrate literary talent in the Land of Enchantment.

Event will include:

  • Focused panels such as how to indie publish, spoken word as a career path, books to screen, and getting a book to its audience.
  • Indie author awards ceremony
  • Pitch competition
  • Query letter clinic
  • Scheduled one-on-one sessions
  • Networking and relationship-building opportunities
  • (subject to change)

This is career infrastructure for writers serious about their work, not just a celebration.
